Full Closure of Mills Avenue to Install the Critical Sanitary Sewer Infrastructure

According to the City of Orlando, Mills Avenue will be closed in both directions beginning Wednesday, November 6, 2019 and is anticipated to remain closed for up to three months. The closure will take place between South Street and Anderson Street so that crews can install critical sanitary sewer infrastructure underneath the roadway.

Detour signs will be clearly posted before and along detour routes. A detailed map of the detour of Mills Avenue is linked here.

During the closure, crews will install a new gravity sewer line and a sanitary force main that will transfer material to Lift Station One, currently being constructed at the corner of Mills Avenue and South Street. The construction of the new lift station will replace two aging lift stations and provide more efficient and reliable sewer and wastewater service to downtown Orlando neighborhoods.

Project hours are between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. There may be opportunities for weekend and overnight work. Adverse weather and unforeseen circumstances can create delays that increase the project's duration.
