Earth Fare Closing All Locations Across Country

Updated: Feb 8, 2020

Earth Fare (Website), the organic specialty grocery store chain, announced Monday that it will be shutting down all of its stores. Challenges in the retail industry impeded the company's progress of its recently implemented growth and expansion plans as well as its ability to refinance its debt.

Orlando has the following Earth Fare locations:

  1. SODO - 9 W. Gore St, Orlando, FL 32801

  2. Lake Nona - 13024 Narcoossee Rd. Orlando, FL 32832

  3. Viera - 5410 Murrell Rd, Ste 135, Rockledge, FL 32955

Earth Fare will engage in a process to find potential buyers of its stores and pursue a sale of assets in whole or parts.

Inventory liquidation sales will be taking place at all of its stores. The liquidation sales will feature "a truly outstanding assortment of merchandise at very significant price reductions" according to the announcement.

All employees have been notified of the impending closures.

The company is based in Asheville.

Last month Lucky's Market, another organic grocery store chain, announced it would close 32 of its 39 stores and declare bankruptcy after Kroger divested themselves of their investment. Aldi is picking up the Lucky's location across from Fashion Square Mall inside Colonial Landing shopping center at 3230 E Colonial Drive (MAP) while Publix is purchasing the lease of the Lucky's in SODO at 3171 S Orange Avenue (MAP). The other Orlando area locations waiting to be announced are one in Orlando at 11750 E. Colonial Drive, one in Winter Park and another on Hunter’s Creek.

Meanwhile large grocery company Kroger is building a $125 million online and delivery customer fulfillment center in the city of Groveland which is expected to be completed by 2021.
