Eastbound Maitland Boulevard Shifting to Permanent Configuration

The Florida Department of Transportation is shifting eastbound Maitland Boulevard (State Road 414) lanes onto new flyover bridges between Maitland Summit Boulevard and the westbound I-4 entrance ramp early Saturday morning, February 1.

The shift relocates traffic onto nearly two miles of newly paved roadway and adds an additional lane to increase capacity and help reduce congestion in the area.

As part of this movement, eastbound Maitland Boulevard will allow free-flow traffic starting from State Road (S.R.) 434 to the I-4 interchange ramps.

Motorists on eastbound Maitland Boulevard will face a new decision point after they pass S.R. 434. Drivers can continue straight onto the new elevated sections of eastbound Maitland Boulevard toward I-4 and Maitland Avenue, or they can exit to the right to use a frontage road that provides access to Maitland Summit Boulevard and Keller Road.

The new frontage road provides access to northbound and southbound Maitland Summit Boulevard and southbound Keller Road. Access to northbound Keller Road will be provided in a future construction phase.

Two ramps from the new frontage road – one near Maitland Summit Boulevard and the other at Keller Road – provide access to eastbound Maitland Boulevard. The ramp at Maitland Summit Boulevard will now provide access to all I-4 entrance ramps, including westbound I-4.

To prepare for the shift, FDOT will temporarily close the elevated lanes of eastbound Maitland Boulevard between Maitland Summit Boulevard and Lake Destiny Road. The closure is scheduled to begin as soon as 9 p.m. Friday, January 31, to 7 a.m. the next morning.
