Updated 3:38PM Monday August 17, 2020

An application was submitted July 28th to the municipal planning board for the construction of a dog friendly bar facility at 724 Brookhaven Drive (MAP) along the Orlando Urban Trail.

The property is located close to the intersection of Mills Avenue and Virginia Drive where the Ivanhoe Village (MAP) and Mills50 (MAP) Main Street districts meet.

BarkHaven is the current name of the project. Wag Bar LLC (Website Not Active) is behind the project. ELEVEN18 Architecture is the architect for the project.

The property is located in the Virginia Drive Special Plan Overlay requiring a rezoning from I-G/T/SP to MU-1/T/SP and a Future Land Use map amendment from Industrial to Mixed-Use Corridor Medium Intensity. A request for a Conditional Use Permit for alcohol sales within 1,000 ft. of a school for the development of the dog bar is also part of the application.

According to documents filed with the city, the dog bar is expected to contain an outdoor amenity area with two seating areas and two fire pits, a fenced dog area covered with artificial turf, a parked airstream trailer, a food truck parking area, covered outdoor seating, 8 bike parking spaces with a bike repair station, and several palm and oak trees.

A 3,584 SF remodeled warehouse will be updated with a new roll-up door at the bar, a new second glass roll up door in the rear, new metal roof awning, new hardie lap siding with woodtone finish in three different colors, new crimp metal roofing, and corrugated metal siding reinstalled from the building to be demolished.

A wood deck is proposed to connect the existing concrete pedestrian trail behind the property to the the main warehouse.

An existing concrete area underneath a canopy in front of the remodeled warehouse will be enclosed.

The project goes before the Municipal Planning board September 15.
