VIDEO: Ocoee Police Department Putting Video of Red Light Runners on Facebook

Each month on their facebook page, the Ocoee Police Department is posting a video called "Top Ten Red Monthly Light Violators." It shows footage of cars breezing through red lights at Ocoee intersections. The final car shown rides through a red light then hits a car that had the green light.

The footage comes from 8 red light camera locations (See Map). Between October 2013 and August 2014, the cameras caught 85,100 red light runners, but 67,391 of those were not driving through the intersection: they were turning right without stopping at the red light.

Between July 1, 2016 - June 30, 2017 there were 610 repeat offenders in Ocoee according to the 2016-2017 Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Red Light Camera Summary Report. Theses were vehicle owners who were issued Notices of Violation for multiple red-light camera violations.

In 2016 an Ocoee Police Officer Chris Bonner was caught on a red light camera driving approximately 90 miles per hour then crashing into a car at the intersection of Holden and Orange Blossom Trail. The driver had to be pulled out by her arms.

Should Orlando Police Department make videos like this?
