City Getting a MultiFamily Recycling Program Coordinator Thanks to Grant

The Recycling Partnership (Website) is awarding The City of Orlando Solid Waste Division a grant for $150,000 in cash and $75,000 in in-kind assistance to coordinate the City’s multifamily recycling program.

The grant will allow the City to hire a multifamily recycling coordinator for 12 months.

$95,000 of the grant funds will be used for personnel. $55,000 will be used for operating and capital. Depending on the HR classification, it’s possible that up to $5,000 for the position might need to be supplemented by the Solid Waste budget, depending on final position classification.

"Orlando continues to strive to become a “zero waste” community, aiming to eliminate sending solid waste to landfills by 2040. In order to achieve this ambitious goal, the city needs to implement and support a variety of unique and innovative waste management initiatives. As such, requiring the opportunity for tenants to recycle at all commercial and multifamily properties will indeed contribute significantly to the city’s overall waste diversion efforts." - City of Orlando website
