The Week Before Thanksgiving is Now National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week

A new proclamation was approved by City Council November 11th designating the week before Thanksgiving as National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.


This year that will be November 16-24.


As part of the proclamation, during the week, the community is encouraged to wear purple.


At the council meeting, Marcia Hope Goodwin, Chief Service Officer & Office of Community Affairs Director, introduced Martha Are, Executive Director of the Homeless Services Network of Central Florida. She gave a brief overview of the significance of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.


Mayor Dyer read the proclamation to the audience and presented it to Martha and representatives of local hunger and homelessness agencies.
