AdventHealth Winter Park hospital (Website) at 200 N Lakemont Ave (MAP) is building a new 32-bed 27,000 SF emergency department.
Crews will begin tearing down an older portion of the hospital facing Mizell Avenue in late January for construction of the new ER, which is scheduled to begin in spring 2020.
The new ER will have all private rooms, two trauma/bariatric rooms and a separate ambulance entrance from the public walk-in entrance. It will also include pediatric friendly rooms and a separate pediatric waiting area to make visits more inviting for young patients.
Medical units on the first and second floor of the old building — including the nuclear medicine and cardio suite, dialysis, respiratory and acute therapy, BioMed and general offices — will be moved to new areas on property in preparation for demolition.
The entrance will include a sculpture by renowned artist JEFRË. Earlier this year he installed a large-scale metal sculpture on the hospital‘s property near the corner of Lakemont and Aloma avenues.
