Let's kick the weekend into high gear with these ten selected ideas for fun!

May 19 + 20, 2018

  1. Orlando Fringe Festival --- Performers from all over the world descend on Orlando for 2 weekends of original stage shows during the Orlando Fringe Festival. You never, EVER get access to this much creativity in Orlando as you do during these two weeks. It's a must-attend event. Seriously.

  2. Buy Used Books Because Reading --- Find your new beach reads at the Friends of the Library annual Spring Book Sale! A great selection of fiction and non-fiction, recorded books, DVDs, CDs and more will be available for half price. The sale takes place May 18, 19 and 20 10am-1:30pm on the third floor of the Downtown Orlando Public Library.

  3. New Orleans Music --- Bring a chair and get ready to enjoy great music and the spring weather with the outdoor concert series Rhythms at the Roost. Amp up your weekend with great bands, delicious eats and unique festival themes. Enjoy jazz, funk, blues and rock with a New Orleans flare from the NOLA Brass band. Rhythms at the Roost take place Saturday 6 to 10 at Cranes Roost Park, Altamonte Springs.

  4. M'Lady's Knees Doth Need to Be Higher --- Learn combat and sword fighting skills using rubber prop swords and daggers all while getting a great cardio workout during a unique medieval themed fitness class called Combat Cardio. The class is Saturday 12-1pm at Fitness Experts, Altamonte Springs. Drop-in cost is $10/class.

  5. I See Rich People --- Tour a $1,450,000 Winter Park townhouse for sale. Only one unit remains and we think it has your $1.5 mil name all over it! Take the tour Saturday 2pm at the Morse + Virginia Brownstones at 407 W. Morse Blvd. (Not an ad. We would seriously go to this.)

  6. This weekend's food pop ups: (1) Peruvian Food Pop Up --- Saturday 11:30am, East End Market. (2) Donut & Coffee Pop Up --- Sunday 9:20am, New General

  7. Don't Listen. Hear. --- Enjoy a guided walk around Lake Eola with the purpose of paying attention to the naturally occurring sounds and rhythms around you during Sound Walk - Lake Eola Saturday 11am at Lake Eola Park. Free.

  8. Beers to You! --- More than 100 craft beers from several different brewers will be available for sampling along with live music and delicious food during Beer'Merica Saturday 3-7 at Gaston Edwards Park. $20-$40.

  9. Just Like Grandma --- This is what Florida used to be! Enjoy a night out on the shuffleboard court during a free to the public open shuffleboard evening the first and third Saturday of each month during The Orlando Shuffle 7-9pm at Beardall Senior Center. (That's this Saturday!)

  10. Weird Art - The most unconventional pieces curated from the Ripley collection and beyond! From laundry lint iconography and sculptures made of salt, to an intricately carved human skull, some of the world’s most fascinating pieces of art are celebrated within Odd is Art Art Show featured in the new book "Odd is Art" from Ripley's Believe It or Not all weekend at Redefine Gallery in downtown Orlando.
