The all-caps statement "TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE" is included in an amendment to the property lease between the City of Orlando and Orlando Ballet Inc. All steps necessary to commence demolition of the Loch Haven Neighborhood Center at 610 N. Once demolition begins, work on the project is required to continue to completion without interruption or delay. A certificate of occupancy must be applied for by no later than March 21, 2021.

The amendment goes before City Council Monday June 11th.

The new two-story 37,600 sq. ft. building for the Orlando Ballet will contain the following:

  2. Studio space for the Orlando Ballet Company

  3. Headquarters/offices for the Orlando Ballet administrative staff

  4. 7,300 sf ballroom for local public and private functions, including recitals, cultural presentations, private parties, and banquets for up to 450 people.

The Amendment also states the following:

  2. A sliver of property donated to the City of Orlando by Dr Phillips charities in 2014 will become part of the property the Ballet is leasing from the City.

  3. Upon completion of construction of the new facility, Orlando Ballet will name it “Harriett’s Orlando Ballet Centre."

The Ballet will share the existing Orlando Science Center garage through an agreement with the Science Center. Sidewalks will connect the new Orlando Ballet building through Loch Haven Park to the Orlando Science garage.
