Social Worker Now Present in Five Library Locations

Orange County Library System has announced it will now have a Social Worker to meet with patrons and help answer social and government services questions. They will present at five library locations once a week including the main library downtown.

Schedule:
Mondays - Hiawassee Branch 10 am to 7 pmTuesdays - Main Library 9 am to 5 pmWednesdays - Alafaya Branch 10 am to 7 pmThursdays - Southeast Branch 10 am to 7 pmFridays - South Trail Branch 10 am to 5 pm *Days and times are subject to change.

The Social Worker is Dr. Stem. She has 20 years of experience as a Clinical Licensed Social Worker and has worked for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, Tampa General Hospital, and the Salem (MA) Crisis Care Network.

New Rooftop Bar Coming to Ivanhoe Village

The M rooftop lounge in Ivanhoe Village at 2000 N Orange Ave (MAP) will open to the public May 24th. The hours will be Wednesdays  thru Saturdays 4pm til late and Sundays for brunch 10am-4pm. It opens May 24th. 

Guests get to the bar via a side elevator.

The bar is on the third floor of Majors Motors (Website), a private indoor event facility. The space can hold up to 200 people and boasts 60 classic cars on display, a gelato truck, wine truck, entertainment stations and 2 full bars.  



Pine Street Market Starts Quarterly Downtown Tradition

Pine Street Market, a new downtown quarterly arts market on Pine between Orange & Court launches Sunday May 21st 11am-5pm. The organizers, City Arts Factory, promise a variety of art, handcrafted goods and more all created by local creative makers. CityArts Factory will be open as well with its seven galleries, mimosa & bloody mary bar and a daily raffle. 

Orlando Event Space Majors Motors Boasts 60 Classic Cars and a Gelato Truck

Majors Motors (Website) private indoor event facility at 2000 N Orange Ave (MAP) in Ivanhoe Village will hold its official public grand opening May 24th 4pm til late. They held a private media and VIP preview May 16th at which we took these photos.

The space can hold up to 200 people and boasts 60 classic cars on display, a gelato truck, wine truck, entertainment stations and 2 full bars.

The rooftop lounge will be open to the public Wednesdays thru Saturdays 4pm til late and Sundays for brunch 10am-4pm. 
The second floor holds office space for the Majors company. 

Drag Queen Storytime at Orange County Public Library

The Orange County Public Library is hosting a Drag Queen Storytime Monday, June 12, 5:30pm at the Library Central, 101 E. Central Blvd. The queens will be reading selections from literary classics including fairy tales that have themes of inclusivity, positivity and anti-bullying. All ages are welcome. Impulse Group Orlando (Website) is the group putting on a this family friendly and "uniquely whimsical" storytime.

"In the spirit of the City of Orlando and One Alliance's “Acts of Love & Kindness” movement, Impulse Group is bringing you Orlando's first Drag Queen Storytime. Join us for what promises to be a laugh filled reading."

Winter Park Mexican Restaurant Opening a Downtown Location

Back in August 2016 it was announced that Hamburger Marys would be opening the Sidebar Cafe right next door at 110 W. Church Street (MAP). Well come July of this year that space will be taken over by Winter Park's Pepe’s Cantina (Facebook | Website) according to Orlando Weekly. This will be the restaurant's second location. The original at 433 W New England Ave (MAP) will remain open.




New Coffee Shop Coming to Mills50

A new coffee shop is scheduled to open the last week in May in the Mills50 District called Brooklyn Coffee Shop (Facebook | Website) at 912 N. Mills Ave (MAP).

The original location was opened in South Brazil in 2010 by a couple who'd lived in a Seattle and New York for 20 years. They met and got married in Brooklyn.

The food menu will feature American and Brazilian offerings, all made from scratch, with a special brunch menu on the weekends.

The shop will open at 7am during the week and 9am on weekends.
