Big Box of Brooklyn - 4 Things Made in Brooklyn That We Like

Brooklyn Butcher Blocks Flannel Print Tees | Brooklyn Butcher Blocks specializes in (of course) butcher blocks but came up this great idea: a flannel-looking t-shirt! The shirt is made by American Apparel and the printing is done by Brooklyn company Prographix. Owner of Brooklyn Butcher Blocks, Nills says "When designing this shirt with my friend Rich DiBernardo, we wanted something that was humorous but also classy. I really liked the idea of plaid, a pattern that is associated with and that connotes the material flannel, being printed onto a cotton tee."

Wooden Shot Glasses by Brooklyn Butcher Blocks | Brooklyn Butcher Blocks felt it was important to keep the recognizable shape of the shot glass. They currently have walnut and oak available. The shot glasses are sent out for a process called stabilization which greatly reduces how porous they are. It virtually eliminates the need for a treatment or finish.

Winter Park Village to Raze Chamberlains and Build REI Sporting Goods

Winter Park Town Center Ltd got conditional use approval to demolish and rebuild approximately 25,000 square feet of retail building area within the Winter Park Village Shopping Center at 402 and 490 N. Orlando Avenue.

Planning Manager Jeff Briggs explained the request to redevelop the southwest corner of Orlando Avenue and Canton Avenue.
He reported that they will tear down the existing Chamberlain’s Store as well as the small building on the corner and replace it with a REI Sporting Goods Store. He commented that the landscape frontage will be continued all the way to the corner of Canton Avenue.
Winter Park Village was approved for a master signage plan which included the existing Chamberlain’s sign which is why they put the REI logo and signage on top of the existing base.
The sign is internally LED lit which is what the more progressive sign codes are moving people to.
