Orlando Cupcake Truck Sweet by Holly Takes Over One of the Two Original Yum Yum Trucks

In June we told you one of the two old Yum Yum Cupcake trucks were parked in the same Waterford Lakes shopping center parking lot along with Sweet by Holly. We didn't know what was up.
In August it was revealed Sweet by Holly had purchased the entirety of the Yum Yum Company, including their two iconic trucks.
And now in November, we can provide your first look at the first newly wrapped Sweet by Holly Cupcake Truck. There is one more n the way, as seen here in these photos.

Church Tags Orlando Highway

A church that goes by the name The Holy Land Experience (Website), which doesn't pay taxes to help  in the upkeep of I4, tagged a portion of I4 according to Orlando Sentinel with a mural depicting an angel holding a blue scroll which extends the width of the corner.

The church didn't ask permission from Department of Transportation or the City of Orlando, both of which must be notified if an entity wishes to add tagging, murals or art to public property.

The portion of I4 the mural appears on is unseen from the road.

23 Orlando Disney IT Workers Claim Discrimination Based on National Origin

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission received complaints from 23 Disney IT employees, all based in Orlando, due to national origin discrimination, according to Computer World"National origin discrimination involves treating people (applicants or employees) unfavorably because they are from or married to someone from a particular country or part of the world, because of ethnicity or accent, or because they appear to be of a certain ethnic background (even if they are not)." (Source) They were terminated January 30th. Their positions were filled using IT service contractors' workers, most of which come from India.
The 23 IT employees claim Disney is also in violation of the discrimination laws in Florida.

Kappo Threatens to Close, Wins Their Case, Then Closes Anyway

In August, when the DBPR demanded Kappo build a sneeze guard onto the top of their serving bar and address all 28 of their Health Violations. Kappo lawyered up, refused to speak directly with the state agency, started an online petition and threatened to shut down.

The DBPR backed down and allowed them to operate without a sneeze guard.

They are the only restaurant in Orlando that serves uncooked food without this requirement.

Three months later they shut down anyway, saying they're looking for a new location for their restaurant. They will keep their spot in East End Market and operate it as a store.

Cellists and Pianists Could be Banned from Park Ave in Winter Park if Ordinance is Passed

According to WESH, the sounds of live celloists, pianists and other musical and artistic acts could be silenced forever along Park Ave and Central Park thanks to a proposed ordinance going before Winter Park City Council today.

The ordinance makes performers stay in designated areas, forbidding them from Park Ave from Swoope to Fairbanks.
This means no unannounced trios from Orlando Philharmonic playing tunes that waft down the street and continue as shoppers walk from store to store, no opera singers taking to a street corners to surprise shoppers with an unexpected jolt of music and no childrens choirs singing to passersby to brighten up their day.
Just the sound of cars.

Lucky's Market Orlando - Construction Peek Photos

The Metro 24/7 gym will be exiting the anchor tenant space in the shopping center at at 11750 E. Colonial Drive (corner of Alafaya and Colonial) to make way for Lucky's Market, according to Orlando Business Journal.
Perhaps it can make a dent in the death grip of Publix on Orlando.
Lucky's is based in Colorado and appears to be a lower-priced version of Whole Foods. In addition to offering typical grocery store items, they partner with local vendors and have a bulk section.
When they open a new store, they do not do a ribbon cutting. They do a slab-of-bacon cutting.
About their meat: They offer grass-fed beef, all hormone and antibiotic-free. They smoke their own bacon. Their chickens are humanely raised without antibiotics, artificial growth hormones or animal by-products According to their website, they give a darn: "Like our founders Trish and Bo, we’re cockeyed optimists. Because we’re crazy enough to think we can make people’s lives a little bit better. Because we g…

Waffle Donuts (aka WONUTS) in Winter Park at TR Fire Grill's

5 tiny waffle donuts (aka Wonuts) come in a paper-lined basket at TR Fire Grill's (Website | 1035 North Orlando Ave. #101, Winterpark, FL 32789).

They're only available on the weekends during their brunch hours.
The taste is what you'd expect. The waffle is fluffy. It wasn't greasy. The chocolate is semi-sweet. The powdered sugar didn't provide any extra sweetness, as it was mainly used for presentation as a garnish.
We'd like to see these served on a dowel upright with 4 dipping sauces versus the paper-lined tray.  We could also see each donut having something special on it. Like, one has cinnamon, one has madle syrup and bacon, etc. But that's just us.

Did You Know: City of Orlando's $4.5 Million Pedestrian Bridge

While Orlando remains the worst city for pedestrians in the country, according to the Orlando Sentinel, in 2012, the City of Orlando paid for the construction of a pedestrian bridge for use by hotel guests trying to get from the Cabana Bay Hotel to the theme park. Orange County approved the bridge as well.

The bridge was built by Universal's contractors and then the city reimbursed Universal.

The city owns the bridge and is responsible for major repairs.

The money, according to the Sentinel, came from a Community Redevelopment Area fund earmarked specifically for improvements within the Universal area. The money isn't allowed to spent on anything except those that benefit improvements in the area. So the city appears to have not done anything improper.
