Transcendental audio/visual rock duo Darsombra is performing February 20th at The Haven with I'm No Navigator and Auditory Armory.
They... "have packed and prepared their space shuttle for launch, readying themselves for journey to inner space. Brian Daniloski (a veteran of metal bands Meatjack and Trephine), pilots, navigates, and controls the sound of Darsombra, alternating between searing guitar riffs, leads, loops, mammoth vocal swells, and soundscapes.  He takes one part metal, one part psychedelic rock, one part experimental, and dashes of prog, glam, and krautrock, to soundtrack the voyage. Filmmaker Ann Everton co-pilots, accompanying him on synthesizer, gong, and vocals, as well as projecting her kinetic, psychotropic videos specifically composed to Daniloski's music, engulfing the audience within the trip."

The Valencia College Theater will host the world premiere of a new docudrama, “Division: The Trayvon/Jordan Project” in the Valencia East Campus Black Box Theater, in a limited engagement from Feb. 11 to 16.

As part of a yearlong project between multiple theaters and producers in Central Florida, Valencia College Theater is presenting this docudrama, a form of documentary theater. The play, which was developed by Valencia’s theater department, pivots around the deaths of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Fla., and Jordan Davis in Jacksonville, Fla.

After conducting more than 100 hours of interviews, theater students working in a special class created the docudrama, which explores the reaction to the events, the impact, fallout and legacy, as well as what “Division” means to American society today. Using the reactions and words of many individuals – lawyers, media personalities, political activists, professors, students and people intimately involved in the two tragedies -- the play explores a …

Lighting of Iconic ORLANDO Sculpture at the Orlando Citrus Bowl

Wednesday, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, City Commissioners and the City of Orlando Public Art Advisory Board will celebrate Downtown Orlando’s newest arts and cultural installation with the official lighting of the iconic ORLANDO sculpture at the Orlando Citrus Bowl.

Wednesday’s event will highlight the new ORLANDO sculpture and showcase the more than 100 color-changing LED lights that have been retrofitted into each letter.
Located at the base of the monumental stairs at the northeast corner of the Orlando Citrus Bowl, the sculpture is positioned at the “Front Door” of the stadium and once again welcomes visitors to Orlando and the new Orlando Citrus Bowl.

Twelve21 Gallery Presents: Deconstructing Reality

Twelve21 Gallery Presents: Deconstructing Reality
Featuring: Nikki Painter (Richmond, Virginia)
Friday, February 6, 2015 | 6P – 9P
Curated by: Alya Poplawsky & Katy Bakker
As a graduate student, Nikki Painter was drawn to demolition sites; fascinated by forms of deconstruction. Through her drawing studies on-site she realized that like any living being, architectural structures went through a natural life cycle. A structure is created, then it starts to deteriorate via natural causes, it is then demolished, and a new structure is created. Painter illustrates this in her work through the juxtaposition of color and pattern. Grays, blacks, and whites represent a standing architectural structure. As nature starts to encroach, color, organic shapes, and patterns start to filter into the composition representing nature. Painter’s patterning, be it checkered, diamond, hatching, or repetitive geometric shapes represents the quiet chaos in nature.
Painter plays with the viewer’s perception…

Cupid’s Undie Run, which raises money for the Children’s Tumor Foundation and NF research, is limited to brave souls willing to strip down to their undies who are also over 21. Donate Your Valentine’s Day allows individuals to sign up and ask for donations through a personalized fundraising page still benefiting Cupid’s efforts and the Children's Tumor Foundation, but allowing them to skip the undies.

“Donate Your Valentine’s Day is something that we’ve been very excited about,” Leathers said. “It gives so many more people the opportunity to participate. Whether they can’t make the event because of scheduling conflicts, they aren’t old enough, or they’re not wild abou…
