Armando and Jorge's Orlandonian Hot Sauce Goofy Boots

Armando (Dusty) Socarras and Jorge (Jarl) Garcia
Two friends make a hot sauce called Armando and Jorge's Orlandonian Hot Sauce "Goofy Boots" (WebsiteFacebook | Twitter) here in Orlando, Florida. We asked them for an interview and they obliged.

How do you know each other?
We both met in 2008 through the music scene in Orlando, which we continue to be a part of. I (Dusty) play bass and yodel in Alias Punch and Jarl plays guitar and barks melodically as Jarl Q.

Why did you choose hot sauce to make? Why not something else?
We both thoroughly enjoy cooking and get more pissed off than we probably should about the current state of the average American's choice in eating. With so many preservatives and "natural flavors" in everything available in the store, we both eventually turned to purchasing natural produce. Goofy Boots came to be when I was experimenting with different flavor infusions and found something that really intrigued each section of my tongue. Usin…

TheDailyCity.com Best of Orlando 2013

On December 1, 2012, we open voting on our second annual "TheDailyCity.com Best of Orlando 2013."

Click here to see the winners from 2012

We have over 100 categories (yeah its ridiculous) including faves from last year like Best Bathroom, Best Museum Gift Shop and Best Non-Smoking Bar.

Another difference our "Best Of" has is that we offer you five choices and one write-in spot for each category. So not only can you vote for your favorite local businesses, you can learn about others you may not have known about. Learn about your city while you vote! Now that's what we call multi-tasking.

Be sure to vote starting December 1st. You don't have to vote in all 100+ categories, so no pressure.

Is This The Healthiest Meal Ever?

This is possibly the healthiest meal I've ever eaten. Thank you, Two Jays Deli.

Limoncello Lemon Drop at Via Napoli

The Lemon Drop offered inside Epcot's Via Napoli italian restaurant is made with limoncello. The drink is around ten bucks. If you just want a shot of limoncello for seven bucks, which is great on its own, you can get it from the wine shop at the front of the Italy pavilion.

Abercrombie and Fitch Shirtless Models

One reason to visit Mall at Millenia during the busy shopping season: a bit of eye candy. Thank you, A&F.

Paul McCartney NOT Moving Into Top Two Floors of Winter PArk Condo According to City Commission Agenda

A source told TheDailyCity.com on Friday November 16, 2012, that Paul McCartney had bought the two top levels of a currently under construction condo building on Canton Ave, just behind the latest 'It' restaurant Galopin.

According to the City of Winter Park City Commission Agenda for November 12th, Paul McCartney is *not* moving into the top floor of a condo in Winter Park.

The agenda states it explicitly:

"Despite the rumors to the contrary it is not Paul McCartney."

Italio Modern Italian Kitchen Winter Park Replaces Burned Down China Plaza Buffet

Italio Modern Italian Kitchen, a fast casual Italian based out of Boca Raton, is taking the spot of the popular-but-burned-down China Plaza Buffet along Orlando Ave (Hwy 17/92) in Winter Park in 2013.

Italio is like Chipotle, but with noodles and marinara sauce. You choose your choice of wrap, bowl or salad, and it all comes with noodles.

The restaurant's interior has a nice vibe. Hopefully the marble tables at the original location make their way to the new one in Winter Park. There's no free wi-fi. Boo.
Italio's has huge expansion plans with at least seven new stores planned, two planned for Central Florida (Winter Park and Orlando).

The restaurant chain is affiliated with Brandon Cohen who also works with Abrika Resturants, LLC, also based out of South Florida. With this type of expansion and the great reviews on Facebook, it looks like this will be a yummy addition to Central Florida's fast casual dining options.
