Cocktails & Cosmos is Back at Orlando Science Center

Cocktails & Cosmos is back at the Orlando Science Center Saturday, September 8, 2012, 8-11pm. Admission ($13) includes access to all four floors of exhibits, the premiere of Space Junk in the Dr. Phillips CineDome, presentations from former NASA astronaut Bob Springer and night-time viewing in the Crosby Observatory.

Visitors can examine the night sky in the Crosby Observatory through the use of the 10-inch refractor telescope – one of the largest available to the public in the state. View moons, planets and deep sky objects such as galaxies, nebulas and more. 

Enjoy cocktails at the cash bar provided by Ember, lounge on furniture from Chic! Event Furniture and dance the night away to 80s and 90s hits from DJ Christian Deleon of Metropolis Productions.

Swap and Shop Fall 2012 | This Time Its About the Kids (Clothes)

The next Swap & Shop Clothing Party put on by Other Peoples Property is September 21, 2012, 6-8:30pm at 1300 Brookhaven Drive, Orlando, Florida 32804. 3rd Annual Puppet (Art) Show

The 3rd Annual Puppet Art Show is a 3-day event October 19 (6pm to Midnight), 20 (5-9:30pm) , 21 (5-9:30pm), 2012, at the Renegade Theater in Orlando (no address listed on the website as of the writing of this post/blog/story/blurb). Tickets are five bucks. Proceeds from this years puppet art show will go to GLAAD.

Winter Springs Festival of the Arts

Winter Springs Festival of the Arts ( FacebookTwitter) is October 20-21, 2012, 10am-5pm,  along Blumberg Boulevard at the Winter Springs Town Center, located at the northwest corner of SR 434 and Tuskawilla Road.
There will be 125 juried and invited veteran and emerging artists in categories including sculpture and clay, drawing, graphics, pastels, crafts, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, digital media, and performing arts.

Additionally, live entertainment will include France Neil and Matt the Saxman, Ian Vidal, Lady J, Linda McKenzie, Lindy Romez and Sol Y Mar, Makeshift, and The New Covenant Jazz Ensemble.

Crealdé 16th Annual Benefit Auction in Winter Park

Crealdé School of Art's 16th Annual Benefit Auction is Saturday, September 22, 2012, 6-10pm, at the Winter Park Community Center (721 West New England Avenue) next door to Crealdé’s second campus, the Hannibal Square Heritage Center. The center is dedicated to the art, history and culture of Winter Park’s African-American community.

The evening's event is themed “Art Is In Everything" and will feature live art demonstrations and a 100-piece auction of original works.

Money raised through the auction will support Crealdé’s outreach programs, arts education and heritage preservation efforts, which directly affect more than 100,000 Central Floridians and visitors each year. They offer free art instruction to underprivileged children, at-risk teens and low-income seniors.

Upon arriving at the benefit, guests will be greeted by Crealdé’s Youth Ambassadors, ages eight to 10, adorned in French artist costumes…

See Art Orlando | Public Sculpture Initiative

SEE ART ORLANDO, a public sculpture community project designed to enhance the aesthetic experience and cultural image of Downtown Orlando through the installation of iconic works of art throughout the city core, is a new initiative by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and community leaders.

“I believe this project will further propel Downtown Orlando as a destination for not only residents from across the region, but also our visitors," said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer.

SEE ART ORLANDO is a non-profit organization comprised of community leaders who represent a cross section of artsorganizations, including United Arts, Downtown Arts District, Orange County Cultural Arts Advisory Board, City Arts Factory and Florida Theatrical Association.

Each installation will be underwritten by corporate sponsors and maintained by the City of Orlando without utilizing taxpayer dollars. 
Phase I of the project will include up to nine permanent sculpture installations with high-visibility in Downtown Orlando.…
