Why I Love Orlando For the Love of Cities Program

We've spoken about this "For the Love of Cities" program on the radio twice now (104.1 Mondays 9:30pm we call in and talk city culture on the SBK Live Show). It's about to kick off this Fall and we have a second meeting about it Monday morning at 9am in the meeting room inside spire attached to the Amway Center.

One component of the program to get buzz going prior to public kick-off is this Facebook page called "Why I love Orlando." You can leave a comment sharing with the world why you heart the MCO. More info to come about the 150-person provate/public brainstorm coming in September.

PETER, BJORN AND JOHN play the Plaza Theater on Thursday, September 22nd. (Info/tickets)

Even if you're not familiar with the name Peter, Bjorn and John, you've probably heard their breakout single 'Young Folks', which was everywhere a few years ago. They've been working hard since then, putting out another couple of albums, the most recent of which is this year's 'Gimme Some'. Pitchfork has this neat video of the entire album, accompanied by some cool sped-up visuals of the band playing live. Well worth a look, though it's refusing to embed here. I'm sure their show will feature singalongs, grooves, and of course, the crowd going mental when the whistling begins. They're being supported by a band called Dinosaur Feathers, about whom I don't know anything, other than they recently wrote a song about George R.R. Martin, and that's pretty cool.
