Motorists Will Know Gas Prices Thanks to @BrianFeldman til 5:59pm Today

Sun Gas Station (5600 Butler National Drive) has been cited by WESH TV as having double the national average for a gallon of gas. Despite these outrageous prices, the gas station near the airport does not post its prices on its signs. Despite the city getting an ordinance passed requiring the station to post its prices, they're not, and are being fined $250 a day for disobeying it. Performance artist Brian Feldman will be out in front of the station today, noon to 5:59pm, holding a sign with the actual gas prices, so motorists can see before they pull in. (Photo Source)

Elvis on a Sunday

Well this sounds fun. What better way to spend a quirky Sunday afternoon that sitting inside a Kissimmee theatre watching a "tribute artist" perform as Elvis Presely? Jim E. Jinelli, aforementioned tribute artist, is doing “Elvis: A Concert Experience” at Osceola Center for the Arts (2411 E. Hwy 192, Kissimmee) on Sunday July 17, 2011 at 2pm. Tickets are $15 and can be bought by calling (407) 846-6257 x 0.

"Jim’s voice has a natural vibrato, enabling him to capture the unique “Elvis” sound, reaching the heart of Elvis’ vocal style, capturing the passion of every song. Jinelli’s performance stays true to Elvis’ stage style of the era, offering the fans a concert experience as close to the original as possible. His efforts to maintain the illusion of Elvis’ look on stage is accented by authentic replicas of Elvis’ studded jumpsuits and silk scarves.

"txt" is About Tweets

Sit in an audience and watch a performance artist turn the tweets sent to his twitter account by the audience around you into an absurdist onstage dialogue for an hour in the live show called txt playing for three Monday nights in July 11, 18 and 25 at 7pm at Urban ReThink (625 E. Central Blvd. Orlando, FL). The performance artist is Brian Feldman and the admission is a suggested donation of $10 which includes a button and PDF script, the latter probably emailed to you post-show.

You can, of course, join in yourself and see if your tweet gets read aloud and included in the insanity. This show has been seen at BarCamp Miami, the Kerouac House, BarCamp Orlando, Atlantic Center for the Arts and The Telephone Museum at Art & History Museums, Maitland.

Unbuilt Bank United Guarded by Graffiti

Thornton Park 3rd Thursdays Art Walk

Thornton 3rd Thursday is a monthly sidewalk art sale, food and wine celebration in the heart of Thornton Park that takes place on the third Thursday of each month, 9pm - 9pm. Shops that normally dye peoples hair and sell custom t-shirts and blend power-smoothies turn into short-term art galleries for the night, displaying works of art above chair hair dryers and below coat hooks. Glasses of wine are handed to anyone (of legal drinking age) who shows up to any gallery-shop. Makes the night that much more fun. One salon even offered kareoke the night I went (Thursday June 16, 2011). This is a fun time and I highly recommend it. -Mark
