Bring to Orlando: Gourmet Food Truck Bazaar

Time Out New York (the type of city guide Orlando is craving) says the Hell's Kitchen Flea Market is putting on Gourmet Food Truck Bazaar (the type of event WE are craving): "As the number of destination-worthy food trucks continues to grow, grazing your way through them has become increasingly demanding (especially if you’re Twitter illiterate). The organizers of the Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market (W 39th St at Ninth Ave, have made things easier this weekend by gathering ten vehicles for its first Gourmet Food Truck Bazaar on Sun 2—a convoy of nouveau mobile foods from Manhattan, Brooklyn and New Jersey."View more BTO (Bring to Orlando) ideas here.

Price Check on the WPRK CD Sale

We assume the rest still holds: "May 9, 2010 11am-2pm at Park Ave CDs (2916 Corrine Drive Orlando FL 32803). Cash only. Also on hand will be WPRK T-Shirts in 4 designs for ten bucks each. This is Say It Loud's Next Business Card

You are looking at Say It Loud's next business card. It was found lost in a bar in downtown Orlando, camouflaged to look like a business card. We got it. We disassembled it. It's the real thing, and here are all the details.

While Say It Loud may tinker with the final packaging and design of the final business card, it's clear that the features in this lost-and-found next-generation version are drastically new and drastically different from what came before. Here's the detailed list of our findings:

What's new
• Its no longer paper
• Orange on the back, translucent on the front
• There is no flash
• Grommet: allows top level to swivel full 360 degrees
• Secret compartment hiding a miniature megaphone
• Say it Loud is printed on the front but not the back

What's changed
• If you hold it between your fingers, it looks like a cheese sandwich
• Once you remove the megaphone, you can use the remaining hold for tongue play
• One entire business card can fit through one …

Here it Comes

Here it comes: the national blog, sites and email newsletter companies that suck up local information and become the go-to source for the locals in towns across the country have finally hit Orlando.

Grass Fed Beef in Restaurants: Where in Orlando?

Because of watching the documentary "Food, Inc" for free on PBS's website, we'd like to begin eating consciously and try to avoid factory-raised meat and all this crap at Publix made from corn. Thing is, we dislike cooking and don't want to have to start. We will if we have to eventually, but for starters, we'd like to try to adjust *where* we eat out before we go cold (grass-fed?) turkey altogether. So, which restaurants (fast food or other) serve grass-fed beef and humanely-raised chicken? I am already aware of Chipotle and Panerra bread.

He's amazing.)

Foursquare: You're Stupid Without History

By Mark Baratelli

I've never used Foursquare. My only direct interaction with it is the bombardastertization of my clean, simple Facebook news feed with friends' dizzy updates about they're exact physical location. Right now.

I'm resentful I don't have a smartphone to enact revenge.

However, that might change as I have found *the one* compelling reason to slop onto into the Foursquare troff: History Channel tips. Basically, the cable station tells you historical nuggets as you walk through parts of certain cities. One extension of that idea is your local history center bringing that to Orlando. Imagine walking by some dumpy closed WInn Dixie and Foursquare telling you that in that exact spot, the idea for Circus World was born. Or imagine one of those women downtown wearing short shorts and spike heels at midnight bouncing from club to club gets told by Foursquare that below the sidewalk she's now puking on is an Indian burial ground. History in real life!

UMO's Love Luggage Program wants to provide these items to children entering the foster care system, in the form of a Love Luggage, the charity's first outreach program, ready to take as they head off to their new homes.

UMO, Inc.’s mission is to inspire, promote and empower individuals and communities by equipping them with knowledge, training and resources to improve their lives. UMO, Inc. can’t do this alone, which is why their goal is to link up with local and national partners who are also dedic…

4/20 Earth Day Preview: Review

Family folk act Jubal's Kin

by Jeremy Seghers

April 20th is celebrated, in certain circles anyway, for the numerical significance of the date by those whom participate in and/or advocate the use of marijuana. However, the folks over at the Ourlando Music Alliance and Central Florida Earth Day used the date as an opportunity to present an evening of entertainment at the historic Cameo Theater. The preview showcased some of the local talent performing at this year's Central Florida Earth Day, which is taking place at Lake Eola, on April 24th.

The evening also featured a sampling of local vendors from handmade jewelry to local honey & jam to vegan baked goods from Raphsodic Cooperative Company.

Among of the highlights of the evening was the family folk act Jubal's Kin who just released their first CD earlier this month. The trio, which consists of brothers Roger & Jeffrey and sister Gailanne, is more musically cohesive and professionally savvy than most bands who hav…
