You will find the updated list HERE. The list you see below is old. Send suggestions to MARK at THEDAILYCITY dot COM. Thank you.
With the help of Brian Feldman and Jessica Earley, I created this list of interesting companies, people and groups in Orlando. It was not meant for the blog. Then after looking at it, I thought it might be worth sharing. Please tell us any company, person or group we left off by leaving a comment. I'll update the list.
Companies:
Juicy Temples
They host art shows in their front gallery as well as do paid creative work.
Say It Loud
They, too, host live art events in their building as well as do creative paid work.
Purple Rock Scissors
They designed the new Downtown Orlando website and just opened a satellite office in Brooklyn, NYC.
Maven Creative
Good video work.
Mama's Sauce
THE Orlando print shop. They own real printing presses.
Groups:
B Side Artists
I don't know much about them except they have a store downtown (I think thats them) and they sell art on the sidewalk in front of the Plaza Cinema Cafe.
Buy Local Orlando
This is not a genuine movement. They co-opted a name for a different use. I hope this campaign is handed to locals who understand how these projects work.
Downtown Arts District
I like their Third Thursdays event and the free movie tickets.
Downtown Development Board
They run among other programs, Whats Up Downtown
Florida Creatives
This is a genuine grassroots movement started by Ryan Price three years ago. Its got an informative blog and a monthly meetup.
Main Street Program
This national effort at creating neighborhoods has taken off in Orlando: Mills 50, Audubon Par and I think downtown. Milk District couldn't afford the fees, from what I understand. Now because of this effort, every hood has a farmers market and some monthly "event" that combines shopping and entertainment. I feel like each hood should name themselves, but these efforts are positive move. More info
McRae Art Studios
A collective of 21 artists representing various mediums and styles.
People:
Brian Feldman
He ate everything off the menu and ruined the 4th of July for me and continues to dazzle almost weekly with new ideas and events.
Doug Rhodehamel
He's done shows at Juicy Temples, made RS21 tiny and is known as the mushroom guy to some/most/all/no one but me.
Patrick Greene
Pat produces Florida Quarterly Noise Report which integrates experimental sounds/music and art. He puts together a lot of the events and creative things at stardust and does installation work and performance art.
Thomas Thorspecken
Thor organizes Orlando Sketch Crawl and Orlando Artists and Writers Crawl and does a sketch a day.
Jessica Earley
She produced and curated Blunder Bungle, did all the curating for the first ever Audience Choice Awards and taught two guys how to knit at Stardust. I saw it with my own eyes. We introduced her to readers here almost a year ago.
Who are we leaving off?

Beth got most of mine. But off the top of my head:
- Andrew White and the guys at lot1499 Art & Design (http://lot1433.com/blog). A little bit of cross-creativity here; as far as I know Andrew still curates shows at Stardust and has a show upcoming at Juicy Temples.
- A Comic Shop, specifically its owners Aaron Haaland and Jason Blachard. Frequently use the shop for promo parties and generally creative ways to get local nerds drunk.
