The rain cleared up just as the first-ever Taco Truck Taste Test (TTTT #1) at 6pm on the side of the road on Semoran Blvd. Blog readers/taco truck fans meandered over to the truck from wherever they could find parking (two people had to move their car, including me) and everyone got a mini-program with a history of taco trucks, the menu for this specific taco truck in English and a fun vinyl sticker.
The general consensus, if I could be so bold, was that it was fun. Here we were, a bunch of car-bound Orlando drivers standing inches from a busy road, chomping down on authentic non-chain food made by a super-nice dude inside his truck, talking and laughing, enjoying a brief respite from the air conditoned, interior-dwelling city we live in.
Two kids and their parents showed up. I don't know what the kids thought, but the parents seemed to have fun.
Visual artist Thomas Thorspecken is releasing his sketch of the event this Thursday on his blog.
I keep getting emails asking me when the next #TTTT will be. I have a list of taco trucks to check out. Once I find the perfect one for the next taste test, you will know about it here. For now, please share the link to this story any way you can with your friends: twitter, facebook, email, etc and get the #TTTT interest going.
Thanks!

Thank you so much for putting this event on Mark. Tammy and I really enjoyed ourselves. My daughter, Jozie, loved picking flowers while I had an AMAZING Colombian style hot dog. Can't wait for the next #TTTT!
Thanks for going out and giving it a try. I heard about the hot dogs, but I never got to try one.
when is the next event? looks awesome, and yeah i would love to see the korean golbi trucks in orlando lol
Well, I don't care who does it, but someone needs to copy what they are doing in LA and SF. Why is there no taco truck downtown during lunch, for instance? Or near our places of work during lunch? Why are the practically segregated to certain far-off neighborhoods? I want to bring them into the city and the city's daily culture.
At Curry Ford and Conway there is a TT that you've got to add to your list. Every night past 10 pm, there is music playing and the area is packed with cars!
There is also a Taco School Bus on Tradeport between Orange Avenue and OBT (near the overpass). It has strange hours, so you may want to do a drive-by first. You can't miss it; it looks like the Partridge Family bus!
Hey-I wanted to tell you about the crepe mobile in downtown. it's pretty messy but yummy!
I gotcha covered! View the photos from my Crepe cart experience.
