Tickets for the event are $12, and will include food and wines at various restaurants and shops in the Audubon Park Garden District.
I am going to the event courtesy of Miss Quast. Hope to see you there. Also, what made me smile about the video was, well, see below:
On the Plaza Theatre's rear, muralists of sort have begun a rear-sized depiction of people playing music (Beyonce is holding a guitar) with the words "Woodstock Jambando" on it. Photo credit goes to reader Zac Alfson. Thanks for sending it in. Jambando!

So last Sunday, Amanda and I are looking for a place to exist out of the pouring rainstorm in between lunch at Ethos and the 4pm showing of "My First Time." I suggest that gay bar in Parramore, but its closed (and the gated parking lot is closed up too).
So I suggest Parliament House cuz its close and probably empty on a Sunday afternoon. We can sit, sipping strong, cheap dranks alone amidst the boom boom music and cigarette stank alone. Nice.
No. We walk in and they are having "Sunday Piano Bar," which I would rename "Gay Church." Professional pianist transposing keys on the spot, everyone in the room making everyone else in the room laugh, awesome singers, horrible singers, free homemade cookies and chicken goulash (cookies and goulash in a gay bar? Unexpected!)
"Gay Church," or whatever THEY want to call it, is every Sunday starting at 1pm-ish. Its as Unexpected Orlando as you can get. Go!
CLOSED 1-28-10 | On January 23, 2010, the Morris's Market location in Lake Mary closed permanently. The family that runs the shop continues to sell its fresh, local food at Lake Eola Farmers Market, Lak Mark Farmers Market and Sanford Farmers Market. They can be reached at 561-261-2041 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

This shop is AWESOME! Veggies and meat that are (a) locally-grown, (b) organic and (c) not priced stupidly high. Win! The owner told me her husband and she own a farm and I shot back "How can you own a farm and also know how to create the authentic, cute ambience of this shop?" I mean, chalk signs above wooden fruit trays? Too cute. Answer: she lived in San Francisco for a short time and experienced the farmers markets out there. Morris's Mbrket is bringing the SF feel and the MCO food.
I saw the sneak preview of "500 Summers" last night. Lindsay Lohan used to be into cutting. I was very much into cutting after this movie. There's a play called 52 Pickup that worked the Fringe circuit where a couple's courtship and final break-up were divided into 52 scenes. A deck of cards was thrown into the air, with each card representing a scene, and they played the scenes in the random order the toss created. This movie used that to structure its editing.
I did not enjoy the production I saw of the play in New York City and I did not enjoy this movie. Zooey Doochoomoomoo is one of the good actors, but this movie was not creative enough for her, it appeared to me. (listen to a 2008 NPR interview)
Zooeys character is named Summer. She dates and dumps a guy. In the final scene post-dump, the dude meets a girl named "Autumn." Rimshot.
The movie says there is no fate, only coincidence. Its only coincidence then…

Taco Truck Taste Test #2 was Tuesday July 28, 2009, at 7pm at the taco truck on the corner of Conway and Curry Ford Road. (What is Taco Truck taste Test?) This truck's main dish was "Mofongo," which is an oily, greasy pile of fried-then-smashed-plantains with your choice of meat on top for the unexpectedly high price of eight dollars. People hung around and ate for about an hour including performance artist Brian Feldman and Sketch artist Thomas Thorspecken, who sketched the event. The next one is Saturday, August 22, 2009.
Mark and Dan Ginader do a quick audio wrap up:
-See photos from the June 30th Taco Truck Taste Test. -Read an Orlando Weekly article about Taco truck Taste Test.
Read about the July 20th experience Orlando food blogger "Tasty Chomps" had of buying a Molten Dark Chocolate single-serve cake from a desert truck in the East Village, Manhattan, on his recent vacation. Jealous!
Have I told you my idea for a dessert truck in Orlando? It'd serve two purposes: deliver awesome desserts AND educate the public about the local bakeries and restaurants that serve these desserts.
It'd be a truck run not by a restaurant, but by an outside entity. Me. It'd sell a selection from every local bakery and restaurant and coffee shop, and each product would be labeled with the name of that business.
So, I'd have Pom Pom's cupcakes, Stardust's cookies, and on and on.
Also, I'd have a printed brochure with the name, address and phone number of each participating vendor. And a google map on the back with their locations on it.
It'd be cute and fun and kind of gay. And I'd only have it out at midnight downtown to serve the dru…

And for ten bucks you can buy the poster below which was custom made by Lure Design for the showing, at the showing. The Wild Bunch | As a counterpoint to the heroic horde of THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, the aging gunmen of Sam Peckinpah’s masterpiece break the very laws of honor which bind them in this bloody and meditative tale of the American West—widely considered to be the self-conscious nail in the coffin of the genre. William Holden, Robert Ryan, and Ernest Borgnine star as the leaders of a grizzled crew of Texan bandits who ride to Mexico, where, one by one, they are unceremoniously slaughtered by a Mexican revolutionary.
